Marketing - April Fools - Brands get involved in April Fools' Day
Brands such as BMW, Land Rover and Metro have embraced April Fools’ Day and planted spoof ad campaigns and news articles in honour of the day.
Here’s some of the pranks we’ve found this morning:
BMW has a long history of running April Fools’ campaigns and this year has taken its inspiration from the Royal Wedding and announced the launch of the BMW M3 Royal Edition.
Metro ran two April Fools’ Day stories. In one it claimed to have launched the first edible daily newspaper and a second claimed unicorn remains have been found in the Tower of London.
Coffee chain Caffe Nero says it has partnered with Dennis Publishing’s digital magazine iGIZMO to bring iPad users the first scratch and sniff iPad app, allowing users to smell the types of coffee available in its outlets.
Land Rover has launched a spoof ad campaign announcing the launch of a self leveling tax disk to ward off the health and safety issues caused by Land Rover drivers parking on steep incline.
Natural men’s grooming brand Bulldog is apparently launching a lipstick “ideal for the modern man”.
